Bread and Butter Pudding Recipe

 
 


Ingredients

To make Traditional Bread and Butter Pudding you will need:

8 Slices Bread
100g Butter, softened
1 Litre Milk
100g Sugar
100g Dried fruit (Sultanas, Raisins)
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp Vanilla


Instructions

Pre-heat oven to 170°C
Butter a large ovenproof baking dish.
Spread the bread generously and cut each slice of bread into 4 triangles.
Line bottom of the dish with buttered bread.
Mix the milk, eggs, vanilla and sugar together to make the custard mixture.
Pour a third of the mixture over the bread and then sprinkle with a third of the dried fruit.
Continue layering in the this way until all the ingredients are finished.
Press down with a fork to make sure all the bread soaks up the custard mixture.
Stand for at least 30 minutes.
Fill a baking tin (roasting pan) a third full of water and place the baking dish in the tin.
Bake in the over for 30 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for a further 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Don't allow the baking tin to dry out.
